Andy Warhol Mr America Exhibition

The Costantini Fundation has the honor to announce the realization of Andy Warhol. Mr. America, the first big exhibition in our country. Organize in collaboration with the Andy Warhol Musseum of Pittsburgh and cured by Philip Larrat Smith, the exhibition collect a selection of 170 works, which presents the politic culture of the United States through Warhol’s eyes.
The list of works includes 26 paintings, 58 engravings, 39 photographs and 2 installations (Silver Clouds and Cow wallpaper), and 44 movies – they will be exhibit in the room and in the auditorium-, belonging to different stages of his artistic production, with a particular emphasis between 1961 and 1968.
Born in 1928, from an immigrant family from East Europe in a working class neighborhood of Pittsburg, and grew up during the Great Depression, Warhol experiment the dark side of the American dream. His “Fantasy America” was the one of Shirley Temple and Elizabeth Taylor, the presidency of John and Jackie Kennedy, and the superabundance and the technological progress, summarize in the soup Campbell can.
Warhol build up the first esthetics really American, and still now continues dominating the contemporary art.
